The Family Cupboard Choice Pantry

The Family Cupboard choice food pantry, launched by The CFR in 2023, is a revolutionary way to ensure that families in need across Cobb County can achieve food security.

Unlike conventional food pantries that provide pre-packaged boxes of food, our choice pantry revolutionizes food distribution. Offering a personalized shopping experience, it empowers clients to prioritize nutrition while having the freedom to select their own food items, just like they would in a local supermarket.

Choices Matter

The goal of The Family Cupboard is to empower our clients to make better decisions, regain self-confidence, and feel dignified in their ability to provide for themselves and their loved ones. We believe that everyone deserves access to nutritious and affordable food options.

The Family Cupboard is open by appointment four days a week. Call our office for more information at (770) 428-2601.

Food Security Program

Our six-month Food Security Program (FSP) helps families by providing food and other essential grocery items. Families in FSP work with a case manager, set goals to increase their food security and their ability to provide for their families. When FSP clients visit The Family Cupboard, they can select from a wide variety of food choices to prepare healthy and economical family meals. They also receive access to nutrition-related educational resources and delicious recipes, too. To learn more about the Food Security Program, email ChoicePantry@thecfr.org. Become A Volunteer

Our food pantry is operated primarily by volunteers on Monday-Friday. There are two ways to volunteer in the pantry: assist shoppers Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday by providing valuable nutritional information and tips to maximize food budgets; on Wednesdays, we sort and stock food items on shelves. Those who wish to work with clients must be cleared by a background check.

Volunteer To Assist Clients

Our food pantry is operated primarily by volunteers. These dedicated people—who are cleared to work with clients through background check processing—assist shoppers Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday—providing valuable nutritional information and tips to maximize food budgets. If you would like to become a CFR volunteer, please reach out to Sonseeharaytunis-roberson@thecfr.org or click on the volunteer calendar to look for the next orientation opportunity.

Corporate & Group Volunteering

We welcome corporate, church, school or other groups to volunteer in The Family Cupboard choice pantry on Wednesdays. This is the day we restock our shelves, receive donations and make express boxes. No background check is required for this type of volunteering. To learn more or to sign up for volunteering group, visit Sonseeharaytunis-roberson@thecfr.org.
