Recently, we recognized our Housing Services clients who are improving their own stability by participating in several opportunities during our End of Year Client Awards event. The Housing Services program provides short-term (60-day) and permanent housing, along with supportive services for families who meet the HUD definition of homelessness. Homeless clients work intensely with a case manager on a housing plan to return to permanent housing with a lease in their name.

The CFR’s Housing Services Program clients have achieved the following from July through December 2023:

  • Employment = 16
  • Promotion/increased income = 2
  • Obtained a Lease/Moved into Permanent Housing = 10
  • Housing Program Completion = 3
  • Personal Goal (savings, car purchase, etc.) = 3

Life Skills Classes (completed all classes within the series):

  • Financial Empowerment Series with Catholic Charities of Atlanta = 13
  • Toxic Relationship Series = 12
  • Legal Aid Series = 13

The awards event is possible thanks to so many. We are grateful for the following businesses and volunteers who helped to make the event special for our clients who received this special recognition, including:

  • Chef Billy Allin for providing festive holiday food to enjoy and helping to make the event a success.
  • John Silvey, Zaxby’s, South Marietta Parkway, for donating chicken nuggets and chips for the children.
  • The volunteers who engaged clients’ children with arts and crafts.
  • Kindergarten students from Nickajack Elementary School for making and donating scarfs.
  • KIDS CARE for book bags and supplies for the 2nd half of the school year.
  • iThink Credit Union provided a goody bag with a Piggy Bank and other items.
  • All of the case managers who helped encourage clients.

Each family was provided a box filled with food to help supplement their meals during school break and holiday season!

We aim to be the go-to solution in prioritizing and addressing the needs of our community’s most vulnerable segment – families and children facing homelessness. Congratulations to the clients who are empowered to become self-sufficient by ownership and activation of their family’s stability and well-being. Well-done!
