We Can Help

Our programs and services help stabilize families and individuals in crisis and prevent homelessness by providing financial assistance for rent and utility payments, food, prescriptions, transportation, holiday programs, budgeting workshops, and other life-skills classes. Financial assistance is limited to households with dependent children, but other services like food, public bus & rideshares may be provided to households in need when resources are available.

Temporary Rental Assistance

The CFR recognizes that families may experience temporary financial hardships that threaten their housing stability. Our Temporary Rent/Mortgage Aid program is designed to provide short-term assistance to help families cover essential housing costs and regain stability. When resources are available, eligible families may receive financial assistance including the following: 1–3 months of past-due rent/mortgage; one month of current or upcoming rent/mortgage; and or related fees necessary to maintain housing. Families who qualify for assistance also are connected with a CFR Case Manager who will guide them through the program and help identify additional support services to promote long-term stability and self-sufficiency. Savings Incentive Program

At the heart of the Savings Incentive Program is a simple yet powerful concept: build a financial safety net by setting aside funds for emergencies and unexpected expenses. By fostering a culture of savings, we help individuals acquire the resources needed to navigate life's uncertainties without spiraling into debt. With a generous matching contribution provided by the United Way, participants who save $100 monthly can earn up to $600 in matching funds during the 6-month program. In addition, participants can earn an extra $100 by successfully increasing their credit score by at least 30 points.

Housing Stability Court

It can take one hardship for families to get behind on their rent. When families face eviction and eviction court, it sets up a major hurdle to stability. To answer this challenge, The Center for Family Resources and the Cobb County Magistrate Court established a Housing Stability Court in 2023.

This innovative, voluntary program diverts eligible families away from traditional court proceedings and provides education, resources, and financial assistance to set up a solid foundation for the future. The Housing Stability Court keeps families housed and, at the completion of the program, expunges the eviction record.

Employee Financial Assistance

EFAPs (Employee Financial Assistance Programs) provide a confidential, third party process through which the company can provide financial relief to eligible employees who are experiencing unforeseen economic hardships. Employees may be unable to maintain housing or pay for other basic living needs.

The CFR currently manages contracts for 10 different companies to administer their self-funded (EFAP). Hardships generally must be due to circumstances beyond the employee’s control, such as natural disaster, death, illness, etc.
