2021 Playhouses

Compliments of Ross Cavitt, Communications Director, Cobb County Government

Inspired by sandbox games where through imagination we create our own worlds and experiences, this playhouse relies on a simple repetitive construction that integrates whimsy and structure into one. The altered sequencing of colorfully stained lumber creates a dynamic form encouraging child-like wonder and an embracing interior space suitable for all children’s activities. Curvilinear layers stack with varied spaces to draw breezes through as it ascends towards the sun culminating in a skylight facilitating natural light throughout the day. This house comes with cushion seats and pillows to make the interior cozy, along with some favorite children's stories.

Playhouse designed by HKS and built by McCarthy Building Company.

Take shelter and hide-out in this rugged playground bunker. Perfect for defending your backyard or planning a classified mission, this hideout comes armed with the latest nerf gun technology to keep you ready for action. Also included are all the supplies you’ll need for a successful operation… and if it goes south, just slip out of the top-secret trap door. This playhouse comes with the motorized tank pictured.

Note: Croy will be using this opportunity to support another of their favorite organizations - Shepherd Center, one of the top ranked rehab hospitals in the U.S. Croy will match the winning auction bid and gift that amount to Shepherd Center. Imagine putting on live theatre/dance recitals/karaoke parties and more in the backyard for the neighborhood! The Tri-House is inspired by the rolling Blue Ridge mountains of North Georgia, taking their shape with the use of the A-frame Construction Style. Historically, the A-frame construction style was born out of practicality: simple to construct, cost-effective and often assembled by the owner to be used as a vacation home. Its triangular structure is well suited for the remote locations where we often find peace; the wooden frame and interior create a space to feel at home away from home. Neutral and natural colors are used to complement the outdoor environment for the users. The design includes a small tunnel to travel inside the playhouse and a ladder to access the top deck and the detachable slide. The design also includes a semi-transparent overhead door to provide natural daylight into the space. When open, the door also provides shade and cover that extend beyond the playhouse, creating a communal space for parents and children alike.
