Cummunity Leadership Development

The Community Leadership Development Program trains residents of low income communities to work together and with local government to be proactive in identifying and addressing neighborhood issues.

Using curriculum developed by the University of Georgia’s Fanning Leadership Institute, CFR coordinates a 12-week series of workshops including topics on:

  •    Understanding Leadership
  •    Effective Communication
  •    Conducting Successful Meetings
  •    Group Dynamics
  •    Problem Solving and Decision Making
  •    Local Government

Participants develop individual leadership skills and learn to identify problems, develop solutions, and connect with available resources. Participants bring meaningful changes to their neighborhoods by building local capacity and working positively with their local government.

The Alumni Program continues to provide educational opportunities, workshops, and support for the graduates as they develop initiatives to meet the needs of their community.

Our CLD Coordinator continues to mentor the alumni as they begin their Initiatives work in the community. CLD graduates have accomplished many initiatives, including:

  • Playground Installation
  • Volunteer Resident Patrols
  • Police Trading Card Project
  • Tobacco Prevention Program
  • Ordinance Enforcement
  • Service on Zoning Board & City Council
